Reported by the L.A. Times, the giant truck-turned-stage with lights and speakers was suppose to cruise straight down Hollywood Boulevard, according to Michael Duddie, general manager of Supperclub Los Angeles. Although the after party was planned to be held at Supperclub, Duddie claimed that they were not responsible for the block party.
According to Duddie, the truck unexpectedly turned off course, turning down Highland Avenue, surprising the fans and inciting their anger.
See what happened next:
"Another 1,000 kids ran down the street at top speed — right down the middle of the street with traffic coming at them. It grew out of control," Duddie told the Times.
Witness the uncontrolled chaos here:
Once the truck was gone, people refused to leave. What started as a "party" invite turned into chaos as thousands of people spilled into the streets, shutting down Hollywood Boulevard and causing the LAPD to show up in riot gear, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
People began fighting and throwing bottles, allegedly vandalizing a few squad cars, according to KTLA.
Here is a mixed video of eye-witness footage: fights and beatings in the street, the "planking" trend demonstrated, the increased traffic due to the riot, young people milling aimlessly in the streets
By the end of the day, authorities confirmed that two people had been arrested, and three police cars damaged, according to the Huffington Post.
